The Supervisory Management Skills Series

The six supervisory management skills covered in this series are: achieving targets (setting clear performance standards and holding people accountable for meeting them); clear communication (ensuring instructions, expectations and feedback are understood, not just heard); prioritisation (deciding which tasks matter most given the demands of the moment); delegation (assigning work in a way that develops people and frees supervisory time for higher-value activity); conflict management (resolving interpersonal issues quickly before they affect team performance); and motivation (maintaining the energy and engagement of the team through both routine and difficult periods).

These articles are particularly valuable for people who have recently moved into a supervisory role from a technical or operational position, and who are developing their people leadership skills for the first time.
