Online Communication Skills Training Course Overview
This course is via either Zoom or Microsoft Teams. The session starts at 9am, with breaks at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. We finish at 4.30pm.
This online communication skills course has four main themes: Impression management, clarity, reason and positive emotion.
We begin the course by asking you what you want to gain from the day and any specific questions you want answered. We set our training goals and will ensure we hit our targets.
Then we focus on impression management. Impression management means that people form impressions of you, based upon everything you say and everything you do. We demonstrate why impression management should be taken seriously, and how improving what you say and do, will stimulate a positive emotional response in the minds of other people.
Then we shift our focus onto clarity of verbal expression. Above all you should be able to make yourself clearly understood. If you cannot make yourself understood, then you lose credibility. We show you how to choose the words to express yourself clearly; and how to ask the right questions to help others to express their exact meaning.
Then we explore the concept of reason. You must be able to provide a good reason for everything you say and do. If you cannot explain why you do, what you do, then you will seem irrational.
Then we discuss emotions. There are three types of emotional response that you can trigger in others: a positive reaction, a negative reaction, and no reaction. Obviously, we only want to generate positive reactions in the minds of others, and we will show you how to do that.
This one-day online Communication Skills course will benefit you greatly in your ability to get things done and how others to react to you.
Learning Outcomes:
- Improve your communication skills: Become more clear, convincing and persuasive
- Gain more confidence; present your message with assurance
- How to specify the exact meaning, so there is no misunderstanding
- The proper (and improper) use of humour and office banter
- Handle conflict situations and difficult conversations with the right amount of assertiveness
- Effective use of body-language gestures and voice tones
- The proper use of praise, appreciation and thanks: Always leave on a positive note
