Course Timings

• 9am Start

Getting here

• Tube: Marble Arch (Central line) is about a 5-minute walk. Edgware Road (Circle/District/Hammersmith & City) is roughly 8 minutes on foot; Edgware Road (Bakerloo) is a little further.
• Rail: London Paddington is around 15-20 minutes on foot, or ~10 minutes by bus (36/436). Marylebone is about a 13-minute walk.
• Bus: Frequent services along Edgware Road, including 2, 6, 7, 94, 98, 113 and 148.

Course Agenda (Summary)

Day 1 - Morning: Foundations of leadership

• What leadership and management are for - getting the best from yourself and others.
• Define your leadership style and the impression you want to leave.
• Set clear goals using an eight-part SMART model; practise with real examples.
• Ask better questions to gather the right facts and reduce ambiguity.
• Communicate with precision: use clear definitions, affirmative language and positive suggestions.

Day 1 - Afternoon: Conflict & performance

• Handle conflict rationally (not emotionally) with fact-based language.
• Give behavioural feedback (not identity attacks); protect self-image.
• Script tough conversations; optional role-plays with real scenarios.
• Spot reasons vs excuses and respond appropriately.
• Use praise, appreciation and thanks to reinforce good performance; action planning.

Day 2 - Morning: Productivity, time & delegation

• Plan work by value and deadline (crisis vs productive vs busy vs fruitless).
• Identify time-wasters (Self, Others, Systems) and reduce them.
• Delegate the right tasks to the right people using the SMART brief.
• Manage interruptions with the 80/20 rule and streamline email.

Day 2 - Afternoon: Emotional leadership & continuous improvement

• Manage your own state first (mindfulness in practice), then influence others’ emotions.
• Understand the self-fulfilling prophecy and how beliefs drive results.
• Embed changes with practical next steps and continuous improvement habits.
