Day 1 - Morning: Core principles of leadership

• Clarify the real purpose of leadership and management - achieving results through yourself and others.
• Identify your leadership style and the impression you create with your team.
• Set focused goals using an eight-part SMART framework, working with live examples from your role.
• Use better questions to gather accurate information and reduce misunderstanding.
• Improve clarity in your communication with precise definitions, positive language and clear suggestions.

Day 1 - Afternoon: Managing conflict and performance

• Respond to conflict in a calm, rational way using facts rather than emotion.
• Deliver behavioural feedback without attacking the person, while protecting confidence and self-image.
• Prepare for difficult conversations with structured scripts and optional practice using real situations.
• Tell the difference between genuine reasons and avoidable excuses, and respond appropriately.
• Use praise, recognition and thank-you messages to reinforce good performance and support action plans.

Day 2 - Morning: Productivity, time management and delegation

• Plan work by value and deadline, distinguishing between crisis tasks, productive tasks, busy work and low-value activity.
• Spot time-wasters caused by yourself, other people and systems, and develop practical ways to reduce them.
• Delegate the right tasks to the right people using a clear SMART briefing method.
• Handle interruptions using the 80/20 rule and simple strategies for managing email and messages.

Day 2 - Afternoon: Emotional leadership and continuous improvement

• Manage your own emotional state first (mindfulness in action), then positively influence how others feel at work.
• Explore how beliefs shape behaviour and results, and how to use this to build a high-performance culture.
• Turn learning into action with practical next steps and simple habits to sustain continuous improvement.
