Good Time Management Training

Time management training

Time management training is important to your organisation because you are in business to add as much value to "the marketplace", per day, as you can.

In a society based upon TRADE (i.e. "trade" means: a mutual exchange of values), the degree to which you are successful in adding value to others, is the degree to which you also expect to GAIN value from others.

So the question of time management training becomes:

How can you improve the rate at which you add value to others?

Here are five ways you can improve the rate at which you add value to others:

  1. Work according to you plan not your mood
  2. Delegate
  3. Distinguish "being busy" from "being productive"
  4. Use up to date technology
  5. Do your best work

Let's take each one of these in turn:

Time Management Training

Time Management Training

Most people feel they need help with time management. How can you get more done in the same amount of time? How can you stop other people wasting your time? If you want to know how, then click here to find out more about our time management training course.

Work according to you plan, not according to your mood. Always work out how you INTEND to spend your day: Failure to do so will force you into a position of responding only to the environment. Thus; you may become a pawn of circumstances.

By working out how you intend to spend your day means that you are more likely to be a goal focused individual: and therefore be more effective.

Delegate

Delegate means "to entrust a task to another"

  1. Delegate those tasks that you cannot do yourself.
  2. Delegate those tasks that you should not do yourself.
  3. Delegate those tasks that you are not very good at.
  4. Delegate the tasks to people who can do them better than you.

Distinguish between being busy from being productive

Realise the difference between being busy (occupied) and productive (adding value to others or yourself).

Did you know that many people are spending time adding NO value to themselves or others?

Many people are consuming values without creating any!

Your job is to create more value than you consume: in that way there is a surplus value (profit).

Use technology

Mankind makes machines: And machines make mankind more efficient.

With a machine, the same input creates improved levels of output.

So: Use technology to its best advantage

Failure to use technology will put you in the economic Stone Age.

What technological advances has your industry created in the last three years which you are not yet using? WARNING: Don't fall behind.

Do your best work

Many people are trying to figure out how they can "get out of doing it".

Many people try to do the least they can get away with.

You can tell these people because they over-use the phrase "That'll do!"

They do half a job and then say "Oh...I've had enough of this....That'll do!"

But often those people, who do jobs the lazy man's way, must then do it again, because "the lazy way" often fails.

The guy who paints the window frame with the window shut (thus ignoring the inner frame) seals the window shut with dried paint, and later must repair the damage caused by his original laxity: which causes him to do more total work.

More work, worse results = less efficiency and less likely to be asked back = Bad time management.

Time management training tip: Do it right first time!

If you ever hear yourself thinking: "Oh...I've had enough of this .... That'll do!" Then be afraid.

You are about to make a colossal mistake. Put the scissors back where the scissors are supposed to go!

Do it right first time!
