Meeting Skills Training Course Overview

All cost-effective meetings share a set of common attributes. They are well chaired, well organised, well prepared, well attended, well recorded and highly productive, (in the sense that they achieve the purpose for which they were originally called).

The above list suggests the content for the course: We investigate the role of the Chair; how to organise an effective meeting, how to create a good agenda; how to manage the attendees, some of whom do not always behave well; how to keep accurate records of the meeting; how to ensure the meeting achieves its purpose. The purpose of meetings may be to exchange information, to solve problems, to make decisions, or any combination of these three.

People finish this course with a full understanding of how to hold highly productive meetings.

Learning Outcomes:

  • How to make all meetings cost effective and productive
  • How to set and achieve goals
  • How to communicate clearly, using specific language
  • How to manage conflicts and disagreements
  • How to manage common behaviours
  • How to make good, logical decisions
  • How to get the best performance from every member of every meeting
