What is Leadership Masterclass Training?

Most leadership training is based upon psychological models. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, Belbin’s team roles, leadership styles questionnaires, Myers Briggs, NLP, Situational leadership, etc. Most people have seen this before and want something more.

This Leadership Masterclass training takes a completely different approach to leadership. It takes a philosophical approach.

What is philosophy? Philosophy is unique to human beings. All animals have a psychology, but only humans have philosophy. Humans are the only philosophical animal on the planet.

Philosophy consists of the following elements: ethics, politics, epistemology (the acquisition and use of knowledge), physics, faith, logic, reason and aesthetics (the study of style and artistic appeal).

Who would argue that leadership does not have a strong ethical dimension? Or a definite political dimension? Who would argue that leadership should not apply reason and logic to all issues that confront it?

Epistemology is the study of knowledge. What knowledge is, and how it is validated. Epistemology asks, can we really know anything for certain or is nothing certain? And if we are doomed to doubt, on what basis should we decide the best course of action?

Everyone would agree that leadership should exude a certain style (aesthetic). It should look right, sound right, and feel right. But what does that mean?

This course is more advanced than anything you have seen before and you will love it.

Leadership Masterclass Training Course Overview

We start the course by asking, "why do people do what they do?"

There are two ways to answer that question, by referencing psychology or philosophy.

Psychology is a new science and has many schools. Philosophy is a much older science and has many schools. Almost all leadership training is based on psychology, but this course is philosophical.

What is philosophy? Philosophy is the reason why people behave the way they do. Everyone develops their own personal philosophy and it affects them deeply. Everyone has their own understanding of right and wrong, ethics, politics, reason, logic, faith, economics, knowledge, certainty and aesthetics (style).

We take these subsets and apply them to leadership.

Knowledge: Since everything we do is based upon what we think is correct, how do we know that what we think is correct, actually is? That is epistemology.

Ethical leadership: How do we know that what we do is morally right?

Internal Politics: How should we relate to others?

Aesthetics: How should we communicate our message? How should we look and sound? What feelings should we strive to create in the minds of others, and therefore, how should we speak?

Leaders should use reason and logic: We arrive at the conclusion that everything leadership does should be guided by reason and logic. If leadership acts unreasonably, or illogically, then it will inevitably fail.

What is the role of emotion in leadership? How does leadership apply reason in a world that seems to be governed by emotion?

Finally, we talk about goals and we set personal development goals that will cause us to use this information.
