Why does goal setting trigger a positive mental attitude?

A positive attitude is based upon optimism.

If you are not optimistic then you cannot really qualify as a person with a positive attitude.

Optimism depends upon having a vision for a better future.

A vision for a better future depends upon having goals for a better future.

Having goals for a better future depends upon Goal Setting.

Therefore, goal setting is the foundation of a positive attitude.

If you want to feel more positive, today, then sit down and start setting goals for a better future.

How do you set goals for a better future?

Ask and answer the following ten questions:

  1. In relation to my future, what do I want to achieve, or have or do?
  2. How could I specify my goal using visual images?
  3. How could I specify my goal using numbers?
  4. How could I specify my goal using words?
  5. What should I measure to determine my progress?
  6. What additional information or skills do I need to acquire?
  7. What additional physical resources do I need?
  8. How much time do I need?
  9. Based upon the answers to the above questions, what are the first three things I need to do?
  10. When specifically, will I do them?

Ask and answer the same ten questions every day and act on the answers.

The questions never change; but the answers often do.

  • Keep these questions in mind.
  • Memorise them.
  • Ask them of yourself and of others.
  • Act on the answers

Act on the answers and get other people involved.

The more people you can involve in the achievement of your goals for a better future, you more chance you'll have of succeeding and the more fun you will have.

Then, I guarantee that you will have a more positive mental attitude.
